Blog Etiquette?
January 24, 2009
This is kind of off the subject of chocolate for once, but it seems that it’s an issue that many people feel strongly about.
As a relatively new ‘Blogger’, I would be interested to know what you think about this – what are at Do’s and Don’ts when you have a blog?
This topic was sparked by a recent post on this blog.
It seems that there is an increasing problem with people stealing articles and putting their own name to it – in breach of copyright. This means that the person has has put all the work and effort into it doesnt get the credit, or the hits, or the money that they are entitled to.
So what advice would you give a new blogger?
Chocolate Beer!
January 11, 2009
My brother-in-law enjoys brewing his own beer.
One of his recent projects is now on the go – a “Double Chocolate Stout”.
I will be asking him for a review for our Chocolate Heaven blog when it is ready to drink! So far he says it looks quite heavy. I might even persuade him to post some photos..
Hot Chocolate… MMmmmmm!
November 11, 2008
Autumn is here, and the cold days, and long dark evenings are upon us. What better comfort drink than a steaming mug of hot chocolate?!
It is believed that the first chocolate drink was created by the Mayan people about 2000 years ago. The original hot chocolate drink was made without sugar, and was bitter to taste. It has been adapted over the years, and today is consumed all over the world in an array of variations.
Strictly speaking, “Hot Chocolate” is made from a bar of chocolate melted into milk or water, and “Hot Cocoa” is made from cocoa powder, but the terms are generally used interchangeably today.
There are many flavours and variations of chocolate drinks today – from the thick dessert like drink in Italy, to white hot chocolate, to drinks flavoured with chili, cinnamon, orange, Rum or Baileys. Why not try making your own hot chocolate, experimenting with some different flavours? Then try topping it with whipped cream, marshmallow or flakes of dark chocolate.
I found this recipe for a delicious and decadent sounding homemade hot chocolate. Try it out and let us know what you think.

Would you like to be a Chocolatier?
October 20, 2008
A fun and addictive little game for all aspiring chocolatiers!
The aim of the game is to save Baumeister Confections and become a Master Chocolatier. You have to travel around the world purchasing ingredients at the best possible price. You then take the ingredients to your factories, and manufacture the chocolates and then sell them for the best possible profit. The ingredients prices, and the selling prices of the chocolates depend on the current seasons and markets. As you travel around, you also collect and make up new recipes that sell for higher prices.
Its an interesting adventure type game that is available for a trial download, or to purchase here. Chocolatier 2 is also available from the same website.
